“possibly my favourite work in the whole show” Says Grayson Perry

Sarah Ball’s painting AC16 is centre stage at the 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition curated and co-ordinated by Grayson Perry.

Perry claimed Ball’s portrait as "probably the most beautiful portrait in the room" and heralded the “exquisite portrait as the centrepiece and starting point for his main room”. (approx 40 seconds in to video below)...

In an article for Studio International Perry said of Ball’s astonishing portrait that it was “possibly my favourite work in the whole show”. This brooding portrait of a young black woman “became the still centre of the maelstrom of agitprop and slightly dubious works,” Perry says.

The work sold in advance of the official opening of the annual summer exhibition.
