URGENT PLEASE READ

IF YOU VALUE THIS UNIQUE LANDSCAPE, WILDLIFE AND HERITAGE

As you may, or may not be aware (due to the suspicious removal of the development notice and complete lack of council correspondence), a development proposal has been submitted for planning permission for 6 new build houses on an ancient agricultural enclosure in Boscaswell Village, a uniquely beautiful open aspect site which provides haven for wildlife and houses evidence of Iron Age settlement including a ‘fogou’ or ‘crow’ only metres away. The proposed high density development site is green belt and has been designated an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounded by a conservation zone in the Unesco World Heritage site, all of which you would expect would provide adequate protection against unsightly new build developments in such a uniquely beautiful and important historical setting, THIS IS NOT THE CASE.

The developer of this land is a builder and property developer and also a local councillor who sits on the local plan development committee. Surely a conflict of interests? Whats more, the development plot is part of an 8 acre site owned by the developer spreading across this unique habitat, if this development is granted it will provide a precedent and road access to the rest of the land which would decimate a much larger area. THIS MUST BE STOPPED!

WE NEED YOU BUT WE DONT HAVE LONG. We have until 20th February to object. Without official objections this development could happen, but it can be stopped. We urge you to help reverse the trend for profit for the few being traded for our heritage and take back control of preserving our unique neighbourhood and its habitat and way of life for future generations.

INFORMATION ON HOW TO OBJECT is shown below, along with validated reasons for objection. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance or if you have any questions of concerns. We will happily be of help!

URGENT: VERY IMPORTANT DATES  Deadline for objection letters - 20th February 2019

USEFUL GUIDELINES OF POSSIBLE GROUNDS FOR OBJECTION / PLEASE RE-WORD & RE-ORDER SO EACH OBJECTION IS INDIVIDUAL:

  • The highway amenities are not sufficient for further development, i.e. single lane highway, road too narrow, already overcrowded, no pavements, unsafe, limited street lighting

  • Makes a mockery of the designation of Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

  • Not in keeping with the surrounding Conservation Area

  • Not befitting a Unesco World Heritage Site

  • Field a haven for wildlife, including sitings of choughs, bats, foxes, badgers, birds of pray, wild flowers

  • A ‘Fogou’ or ‘Crow’ can be found metres away showing evidence of iron-age and neolithic activity, much of which could still be uncovered and would be decimated

  • Destruction of the outlook, character and amenity of the surrounding conservation properties

  • New build materials not in keeping with the historic conservation properties that surround it, impossible to emulate history.

  • Proposed development is overcrowded for the site and thus not in keeping

  • There is no ecology report included with the application

  • Will cause a drastic negative affect to the unique beauty and the open aspect of this unique location

  • Evidence that the applicant holds further land connected to this site, permission granted sets a precedent and provides access to the rest of the plot, which will decimate this unique setting which should and must be protected

  • Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty designation seemingly ignored all over Cornwall resulting in ill conceived developments, this must stop

  • This is not the right place for building more houses as amenity does not allow it, and protections should prevent it, new developments should be sited where amenity allows, and where the above limitations are not contravened.

  • This is a proposed development that seemingly profits the landowner only, whilst causing detriment to the rest of the existing neighbourhood, all those who enjoy the area and generations to come and marks yet another dangerous decline of Cornwall and the protection of its incredible beauty and its heritage as recognised by all the supposed preservation orders in place.

  • Only three of the six proposed dwellings are for affordable housing.
